Mental Health Technician - MHT
Compass Intervention Center has an opening for a full-time, day shift Mental Health Tech (MHT). The MHTs play a vital role in providing excellent care for our patients and are a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care within a multidiscipline team approach.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
- Intervene with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper HWC technique.
- Therapeutically communicate with patients, assist in developing appropriate boundaries and help develop social skills.
- Direct or redirect behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences. Respond appropriately to impulsivity issues as they relate to age-specific criteria.
- Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under their care.
- Complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent; preferred bachelor's degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
Licensure and/or Certification: CPR certification.
Experience: No minimum required; preferred one year’s experience as a nurse’s aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Lifting requirements are 50 lbs and SAMA training is required.
