Job Description
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has established an expansive and multicomponent Translational Neuroscience Initiative, directed by Dr. J. Paul Taylor, whose mission is to understand and treat catastrophic childhood neurological disease. This new program integrates basic and clinical neuroscience and includes strategic partnerships with industry and foundations to achieve this goal.
The Center for Experimental Neurotherapeutics (CENT), directed by Dr. Richard Finkel, is recruiting two academic clinician scientists. Candidates with expertise in neurometabolic disorders, ataxias, or other high‑unmet‑need areas of Neurology will be considered. Substantial resources are available to build a successful program. The positions will be largely research‑focused, with some relevant clinic time expected. No inpatient Neurology attending requirement.
Qualifications- MD or equivalent degree with the ability to practice medicine in Tennessee.
- Current certification in Neurology by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (or equivalent).
- Proven productivity as a principal investigator in early‑ and mid‑phase clinical trials.
- Experience with antisense oligonucleotides and AAV‑mediated gene therapy is an advantage.
- Faculty appointment commensurate with demonstrated clinical‑trial experience, publication productivity, national and international academic participation, and leadership skills.
- Build a team and establish a clinical trial program in your area of expertise.
- Establish and direct a regional center of excellence clinic for the longitudinal assessment of patients with your targeted diseases.
- Develop strategic partnerships.
- Participate in general activities of the CENT.
