JOB SUMMARY/
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Research Study Coordinator 1 implements and coordinates laboratory/biosample (lab) activities for the CANDLE-related research studies (currently ECHO) based in the department of Preventive Medicine. This position trains and directs project employees as specified and acts as liaison to coordinate lab projects with project directors and with relevant agencies.
- Plans, assigns, and oversees lab assignments; orients staff to specific lab protocols as assigned.
- Participates in lab/sample correction as needed to meet goals.
- Addresses problems with lab protocols and implements staff retraining as needed to correct errors.
- Collaborates with departments on campus as needed to accomplish lab project goals.
- Coordinates employees’ interactions with other departments as needed to accomplish lab project goals.
- Manages biospecimen transfer for project(s); submits necessary data and documents to sponsor before shipment.
- Implement sponsor-generated lab protocols to ensure all protocol restrictions and requirements are met.
- Ensures the CANDLE Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as well as the sponsor-managed Bio Track are up to date and accurate; maintains, manipulates, manages and cleans the database(s) in the File Maker Pro tracking system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, or other social science. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of clinical research experience;
OR a combination of education and experience to equal five (5) years.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and File Maker Pro.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of lab procedures and best practices.
- Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
