Interim Director, Clinical Lab Needed in Memphis, TN!
The Position- An Interim Director, Clinical Lab is needed to lead and stabilize laboratory operations.
- Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, this leader will oversee the laboratory and phlebotomy teams.
- Key responsibilities include ensuring laboratory readiness for an upcoming CAP survey; overseeing blood bank, hematology, microbiology, specimen processing, and phlebotomy services; supporting quality and safety initiatives; optimizing workflows; and maintaining compliance with CAP and Joint Commission standards.
- The ideal candidate will have strong experience with CAP accreditation and surveys, demonstrated success leading full-service hospital laboratories, and a background in quality improvement and regulatory compliance. Experience working with Cerner EMR systems is preferred. Must be highly organized, patient‑focused, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills will be critical.
- Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Current Tennessee Medical Laboratory Scientist certification (ASCP or equivalent) required.
- Progressive laboratory leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting required.

- Compensation Range: $160,000 to $170,000 annually.
- The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation. Additionally, some candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, depending on the specific role, including but not limited to health insurance coverage and retirement benefits.
