Job Description
The College of Medicine (COM) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks an innovative, strategic leader to become the next Chair of Physician Assistant Studies. The Chair is the primary academic and administrative leader who is responsible for the PA program's accreditation, curriculum, faculty, and student outcomes. This is a part‑time non‑tenure position. This position will be located on the Memphis campus.
Responsibilities- Oversees research, educational, clinical, administrative, and supervisory duties related to this position that may be assigned by the Executive Dean of the College of Medicine.
- Serves as director/supervisor of all educational activities.
- Assures continued accreditation for the program.
- Oversees clinical operations and duties.
- Serves as primary recruiter for faculty.
- Leads faculty and completes annual reviews with duty assignments and goals for faculty.
- Assumes responsibility for all finances.
- Oversees general research duties and expectations.
- Education: Doctoral Degree from an accredited program.
- Experience: Minimum rank of Associate Professor is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the PA profession, role, practice, and educational process and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Desirable qualifications include prior teaching experience, prior clinical experience, prior experience in medical education/administration, and evidence of scholarly or other professional activity.
- Licenses: Board-certified Physician with Tennessee licensure.
