Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while advancing the field of neuroscience.
Our physical therapy department is looking to hire a technician to assist our physical therapists in providing patient care and cleaning and maintaining treatment areas and equipment. This is an ideal, full-time, onsite opportunity for students looking to pursue physical therapy school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Performs clerical and reception duties as needed to ensure adequate coverage of the reception desk at all times
- Prepares, maintains and cleans the treatment area to ensure appropriate patient care
- Cleans and maintains equipment with safety check list to ensure patient safety
- Transports patient to and from treatment area
- Assists patients in dressing, undressing, and putting on and removing supportive devices such as braces, splints and slings before and after treatments
- Under the supervision and direction of a licensed physical therapist, assists in patient related activities for those of which the technician has been trained
- Motivates and assists patients in safe and correct performance of activities or exercises related to the development of strength, flexibility and endurance
- Observes and reports the patients’ conditions, reactions, and responses to the physical therapist
- Performs other related duties as requested by the Physical Therapy Director and Physical Therapists
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training
- General knowledge of the healthcare industry and Physical Therapy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), internet software and electronic medical records (EMR)
- Effective communication, both oral and written
- Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
- Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
- Establishes effective working relationships among team members
- Ability to provide excellent customer service during difficult or emotional situations
- Ability to manage workflow and prioritize demands
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
