The preferred working location for this role is the Medtronic facility located in Mounds View, Minnesota.

This role may require 5-10% domestic travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

As the IT and Managed Services VMO Program Manager, you will ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement from Medtronic’s third‑party technology service providers. You will be responsible for daily interactions with large Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms, managing contracts and supplier relationships so as to optimize performance and value creation. Reporting to the Senior Director, IT and Managed Services, this role will be part of Global IT’s Vendor Management Office, whose goal is to ensure proper governance and partnership with our Top 50 strategic suppliers.

As a part of that team, you will be accountable for a subset of the VMO’s IT services suppliers, building relationships (internally and externally) while managing contractual SLAs, KPIs, and deliverables. You will be a key part of the global workforce strategy, which has been designed to leverage its third‑party service delivery partners for both recurring “run” functions (MSP‑based) and variable “plan” and “build” requirements (SOW‑based).

  • Works with the Senior Director and other Program Managers to execute the VMO strategy for Global IT’s services suppliers. Delivers against annual cost and quality goals, holding our vendors accountable for contractual performance while maintaining positive, cooperative relationships.
  • Works collaboratively with the VMO team, internal customers, and IT services suppliers to match requirements to capabilities, set proper expectations, drive clarity of communication, and optimize ways of working together.
  • Understands the details of the assigned MSP and BPO contracts & SOWs, serving as the subject matter expert in enforcing contractual requirements and resolving conflicts between Medtronic and its suppliers.
  • Works with Tech Sourcing to enforce our preferred partner strategy, ensuring we receive the benefits from supplier consolidation – rewarding those IT partners who demonstrate ongoing operational and financial excellence. Able to leverage this program and these relationships to map out priorities, influence outcomes, and ensure Medtronic’s needs are met by our suppliers.
  • Deliver measurable quality and performance improvements year-over-year, as seen in both monthly SLA/KPI metrics and customer satisfaction scores.
  • Deliver measurable financial value year-over-year, coming from cost savings, cost avoidance, and supplier‑driven AI, automation, process and resource efficiency.
MUST HAVE (Minimum Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience with an advanced degree
NICE TO HAVE (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Strongly Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant technical or business discipline
    • 5+ years working in some combination of IT operations, procurement, or vendor management, where managing contractual performance and influencing supplier outcomes were core components of the position
    • 5+ years working with IT services suppliers, with particular emphasis on large, multinational firms such as Accenture, KPMG, IBM,…
