The Information Technology (IT) Intern will learn to support daily operations by assisting with writing code for television, mobile, and web applications, network administration, and user technical support. The position offers hands‑on experience including shadowing professionals, attending meetings, performing administrative tasks, and collaborating on team projects to expand IT skills in a ministry setting. The ideal candidate must possess a willingness to learn and have the ability to acquire additional skills and programming languages on the job.
It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.
Authority as delegated by and directly responsible to the Director of IT in accordance with It Is Written’s policies and objectives.
Essential Position Functions- Assist in the testing and updating of highly‑available television, mobile, and web applications tailored to ministry needs.
- Work with other developers to migrate projects to new development environments.
- Assist with aggregating data from various platforms into structured databases.
- Become familiar with the programming languages used in our existing projects.
- Collaborate with team members in the office environment to learn, support, encourage, improve, and complete assigned tasks.
- Aid in modifying and updating codebases to current versions.
- Assist with server and network configuration.
- Help with user technical support as needed.
- Fulfill other related responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Education:
- Required:
A high school diploma, or equivalent. - Preferred:
At least two (2) years of college education in computer science or related field.

- Experience:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience writing code is preferred.
- Membership and Mission:

- Skills, scope, and complexity of duties:
- Possess familiarity with modern coding languages and libraries for web applications. Examples:
Ruby on Rails, Java, Java script, HTML5 and CSS

- Prolonged sitting, computer viewing, and repetitive motion from keyboard and mouse use.
- Physical requirements:
requires standing, walking, prolonged time sitting at a desk, reaching, climbing, and lifting (maximum of 50 lbs.)
- Hourly, 19-29 regular hours per week.
- May occasionally require variable hours.
- No special clothing or safety gear is required.
- Business casual attire is required.
