AI Architect (Remote or Memphis-based Preferred)
Overview
A leading nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced AI Architect to design and deliver enterprise-scale AI infrastructure and solutions. This is a long-term contract role ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategic vision and hands-on development. The position offers flexibility to work remotely, though preference will be given to candidates based in or near Memphis due to periodic onsite collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust AI infrastructure, including model management, versioning, indexing, feedback loops, and monitoring systems
- Collaborate closely with data scientists, application owners, and business stakeholders to translate use cases into scalable AI solutions
- Ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities with existing systems while improving their overall functionality
- Design systems that are secure, reliable, and capable of delivering ethical, unbiased outputs
- Continuously evaluate model performance and apply governance practices to ensure transparency and compliance
- Lead initiatives focused on the scalability, reliability, and security of AI and data orchestration platforms
- Demonstrated experience in AI engineering, data engineering, or a related role involving production-level AI deployments
- Ability to translate business domain requirements into functional AI applications
- Proficiency in Python or Java and familiarity with ML frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, and Lang Chain
- Experience with prompt engineering, including patterns such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Cloud-native development experience, preferably on Azure or AWS
- Working knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and search indexing technologies
- Experience with fine-tuning techniques such as Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) is a plus
- Background in API architecture and integration is also a strong plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Certifications in AI/ML, cloud computing, or data platforms are desirable
