Lance Soft, Inc. is seeking an experienced On-Site Service Engineer (OSE) to support enterprise data center and server environments, including next-generation AI platforms. This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role focused on maintaining system uptime, resolving complex hardware issues, and delivering exceptional on‑site technical support.
Prior AI platform experience is not required; strong data center and server support fundamentals are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on‑site support for server and data center systems, ensuring rapid issue resolution and minimal downtime.
- Perform hardware maintenance, including server builds, hardware swaps, component replacements, and firmware updates.
- Troubleshoot system issues across hardware, firmware, and operating systems, escalating when appropriate.
- Support both reactive and preventive maintenance activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and end users during service events to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
- Document work performed and contributed to knowledge‑sharing and operational best practices.
- Participate in on‑call rotations and support extended coverage when needed.
- Experience supporting servers or data center hardware in a field service, enterprise, or customer‑facing environment.
- Hands‑on experience with server components, including CPUs, memory, power supplies, GPUs, and related hardware.
- Familiarity with Linux or similar operating systems.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in an on‑site environment while communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and support emerging technologies, including AI platforms.
- 3–5+ years of experience in technical support, field service, data center operations, or related technical roles.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Vendor certifications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and support flexible schedules, including on‑call responsibilities.
- Hands‑on experience with server hardware, including CPU, memory, power supply, GPU replacements, and server builds.
- Experience performing server deployments and server swap activities.
- Experience replacing server components, including CPUs, memory modules, power supplies, GPUs, and complete server units.
- Experience with water‑cooled server environments is desirable but not required.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Ability to follow established Plans of Action (POA) and technical support procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities across hardware‑related issues.
- Experience building and configuring PC hardware.
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with technology through continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with data center and field service environments.
