Senior Systems Engineer-Apigee

Job Description

Auto Zone is looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining solutions for our organization, working closely with cross‑functional teams to develop scalable and secure Apigee architectures, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Apigee technologies and excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

• Design, develop, configure, and troubleshoot APIs and policies using Apigee X.
• Define overall API architecture and implementations, integration and deployment of API management platforms, and API security and access control (SAML, Web SSO, SSL/TLS, etc).
• Know health checks and monitoring for Apigee components and API using various tools and configuration management systems.
• Have Apigee Gateway knowledge and understand cloud architecture and security.
• Experience with high availability, load balancing, failover, and disaster recovery configuration with Apigee.
• Support and upgrade Apigee production and non‑production environments.
• Implement API best practices and performance tuning.
• Manage installation, configuration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and quick resolution of complex problems.
• Deploy proxies and other artifacts in the Apigee environment, perform configuration updates, log collection, health checks, and monitoring.
• Build and support the API throughout the full lifecycle.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 6 to 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting Apigee solutions in large‑scale production environments.
• Unix shell scripting and Ansible experience; CI/CD experience is desirable.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Maintain documentation for technical deliverables when applicable.
• Prepare and participate in presentations and demonstrations of developed solutions.
• Collaborate and work closely with other team members.
• Participate in agile meetings such as sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily status meetings, and story pointing.
• Provide L2/L3 support for the Apigee platform to ensure high availability.
• Handle production support incidents, service requests, and changes, ensuring SLAs are met.
• Help consumers and IT stakeholders resolve platform issues.
• Lead root‑cause analysis sessions for production issues and produce preventative solutions.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, Datadog, Grafana, and App Dynamics.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
• Certifications such as Apigee certification, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, GCP, or related certifications are a plus.
