QualificationsEducation and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and five years of experience in one or a combination of the following: software development of industrial automation systems; design or repair of industrial electronics; installation/maintenance of low voltage alarms and camera systems; maintenance of computer and server hardware, desktop and server operating systems, network hardware devices or wireless network devices;
or repair of other related system operations problems for computer or security electronic system hardware and operating systems. At least one year of the required qualifying experience must be at a supervisory level.
Substitution of a Specific associate's degree for the Required Bachelor's Degree: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in information technology, electronics, software development or other closely related field may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
Substitution of Education for
Experience:
Graduate coursework in information technology, electronics, software development or other closely related field may substitute for up to one year of the required experience (twenty-four graduate semester hours or a master's degree is equivalent to one year of experience).
Substitution of Experience for the Specific Associates Degree: Experience in any of the following areas may substitute for the required associate's degree on a year-for-year basis to a maximum substitution of two years: design or repair of industrial electronics; installation/maintenance of low voltage alarms and camera systems; software development of industrial automation systems; maintenance of computer and server hardware, desktop and server operating systems, network hardware devices or wireless network devices;
or repair of other related system operations problems for computer or security electronic system hardware and operating systems.

Qualifications:
Applicants for this class must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license at the time of appointment.
Under general supervision, advanced electronic security systems management work performs considerable difficulty and strategic importance. This role provides statewide leadership for Electronic Security Systems operations, staff, and infrastructure within an ITS and/or correctional/state government environment.
The incumbent oversees system design, implementation, maintenance, and support for electronic security technologies, including fence detection, video surveillance, access control, and supporting IT infrastructure. This position also provides fourth-level technical support and ensures alignment with agency policies, security standards, and operational needs.
This classification differs from the Electronic Security Systems Supervisor by having statewide managerial responsibility, broader strategic oversight, and accountability for policy, planning, and cross-agency coordination.
Responsibilities Strategic Planning & System Improvement- Develop and implement statewide strategic plans for electronic security systems, including modernization, expansion, and integration initiatives within a correctional and/or state government environment.
- Lead and manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed on time and aligned with operational priorities.
- Design and develop programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and associated systems supporting door control, video monitoring, intercoms, panic alarms, and other security technologies.
- Oversee or contribute to the development of software applications and operating systems supporting security infrastructure and automation within the Department of Correction and broader ITS ecosystem.
- Develop, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and technical standards for electronic security and IT systems to ensure compliance, reliability, and security across statewide operations.
