The Senior Manager, Software Engineering reports directly to the Senior Director, Digital Engineering at First Horizon. The position is responsible for the ongoing creation, modification, and implementation of a modern and robust internet interface for the retail bank that delivers internet systems to support the company’s business strategy and replace the current legacy retail interface. This role will lead a software engineering team to build and deliver a new strategic interface, stay knowledgeable in industry technology trends and practices, establish a strong engineering culture, and deliver high‑quality software that provides an outstanding user experience and meets product requirements.

The Senior Manager collaborates with other Digital Engineering leads, middleware, security, and core systems leaders to build and maintain comprehensive internet interface capabilities. The role advances development toolsets, system utilities, and libraries, optimizes the Aurora software delivery process using agile methodology and containerized development, and ensures engineering domains are well‑maintained. The Senior Manager works closely with architects, cloud services engineers, and middleware teams to design integrated platforms that are secure, robust, and perform well under load, and coordinates with technology operations to implement effective monitoring, logging, and alerting for high availability.

Together with other Digital Engineering leads, the Senior Manager is accountable for all internet interface system design, maintenance, and performance, ensuring robust performance, future productivity, and reuse. The Senior Manager develops and enforces modern software engineering standards in a multi‑cloud environment, provides transparency to senior leadership, and ensures high‑quality implementations that meet rigorous security, resiliency, recovery, and availability requirements.

The role requires managing a broad and diverse team, establishing a clear vision and goals to achieve top‑quartile engineering quality, overseeing multiple suppliers to ensure value delivery, and maintaining long‑term control and efficiency. Occasional travel is expected.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a scientific field (advanced degree beneficial). Strong experience in other relevant fields such as business or economics considered.
  • Technical software engineering certifications viewed favorably
  • ITIL and/or Agile certifications beneficial
  • 3+ years of experience as a senior leader of complex, large infrastructure teams
  • 7+ years of engineering experience, preferably with at least five years in a complex financial services corporate setting
  • Experience leading new build, cloud‑native software projects
  • Experience working with diverse teams
