The Field Engineer position is crucial for providing operational support in a dynamic data center environment. This role involves hands-on work with server hardware, troubleshooting, and coordination with various teams to ensure the smooth functioning of the data center.
Responsibilities- Provide onsite data center operational support and coordinate field engineers.
- Manage parts shipping, receiving, inventory, and hardware deployment.
- Maintain documentation including serial numbers, rack elevations, and runbooks.
- Coordinate with colocation teams for power, cooling, and facility activities.
- Perform server monitoring, troubleshooting, log collection, and break/fix support.
- Support firmware upgrades, hardware replacements, and system updates.
- Perform OS installation, GPU configuration, testing, and system validation.
- Open and manage service requests and coordinate vendor support.
- Handle urgent issues and serve as an onsite escalation and coordination point.
- Strong data center/server hardware experience.
- Experience with troubleshooting, break/fix, firmware, and OS installation.
- Basic GPU configuration and testing experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an onsite team environment.
- Flexible to support after-hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
