About The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to support our New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives and ongoing production by ensuring the timely procurement of key commodities such as copper, steel, and other metals for our Power Distribution Systems customers. The role drives cost efficiency, aligns purchasing strategies with business needs, and builds strong supplier partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities- Efficiently procure raw materials and components—particularly metals—to support NPI and production schedules.
- Collaborate closely with Planning and Operations teams to ensure material availability aligns with demand forecasts and capacity plans.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs and secure supply continuity.
- Monitor supplier performance, addressing and resolving issues related to delivery, quality, or service.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and ensure adherence to company standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing processes and tools.
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Stay current on market trends and commodity pricing to anticipate risks and identify opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Metals procurement experience highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and planning tools.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
