Located in downtown Memphis, the Hub campus is a safe, kind, and respectful environment that serves as a single point of entry to comprehensive support services for those experiencing homelessness. We provide our guests with the stabilizing resources they need, including temporary shelter, assistance acquiring identification, employment opportunities, and referrals to community partners.

About the Role
The Maintenance Technician primary responsibility is to bring dedication, skill, and passion to the upkeep, cleanliness, and maintenance of the Hub campus for staff, guests, and visitors to be safe, motivated, and thriving. The Maintenance Technician role is critical to the Hub, providing a hospitable and functioning trauma-informed environment free of clutter and dirt for guests to find healing. We are looking for a Technician with skilled maintenance experience in mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and drywall abilities.
The Hospitality Hub serves people who have experienced discrimination, violence, and other traumatic events. Many Hub clients and guests are healing from trauma related to their marginalization. It is critically important that all Hub team members maintain a hospitable and welcoming environment by remaining calm and kind when clients are feeling frustrated.

8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday
Pay: $20-22 per hour

The Hospitality Hub runs programs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To best meet our mission and serve the community, we expect all staff to be flexible and willing to meet demand, respond to emergencies, or fulfill programmatic responsibilities and promises. This may include helping cover holidays, weekends, evenings, or night shifts, and extreme weather events.
While the primary responsibilities of the position are outlined below, this list is not exhaustive.
Responsibilities
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician oversees the maintenance of the property of all Hub assets, including buildings and grounds on all campuses.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician must learn and respond to all physical building systems, including related computer systems to be able to first troubleshoot and then call for vendor or contractors as needed.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician oversees and is able to do basic troubleshooting and assess concerns for all major mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician oversees and can complete basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and assessment of the entire plant, including roof, hardscape, landscaping.
- With the Facilities Team, the Technician establishes a safe and attractive environment for employees, guests, and visitors by performing safety audits and inspections, conducting safety-related training, and setting a high standard for health and cleanliness.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician ensures cleaning standards are maintained.
- Works with Work Local to address janitorial or landscaping needs.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician supports and guides team members to ensure a level of cleanliness is maintained in all Hub spaces.
- With the Facilities Manager, the Technician will ensure the maintenance of Hub assets to ensure team members can work effectively and that assets including all appliances, furniture, buildings, vehicles, etc. are well maintained to last as long as possible.
- With the Facilities Manager and other project leaders, the Maintenance Technician will support contractor work, manage subs, and complete maintenance projects in a timely and within budget.
- Schedules regular maintenance work to ensure vehicle functionality and longevity.
- Schedules urgent or emergency repairs as needed.
- Manages vehicle licensure and registration.
- Coordinates with Work Local Supervisors to ensure vehicle cleanliness.
- To assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining the Hub’s building and grounds, ensuring that staff, guests, and visitors are safe, motivated, and thriving.
- To work with staff to ensure that all spaces are well-appointed, stocked, clean, safe, warm, and prepared for any need or emergency that arises.
- To work with subcontractors ensuring that their work is up to par while seeking to oversee or complete those projects that can be done by the Maintenance Technician.
