About the Position
This position is a casual on‑call Biometric Technician (BT) supporting the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) Application Support Center (ASC) located in Memphis, TN. The role is part of a dynamic team and involves assisting with lawful immigration processes, crowd control, and front‑line customer service. On‑call employees must be available Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 4:15pm for substitute coverage as needed.
Hours are not guaranteed and work is performed on an as‑needed basis.
- Complete biometrics registration for applicants seeking legal immigration to the United States.
- Ensure all entrants are approved applicants and visitors, perform crowd control, and enforce ASC rules and policies.
- Provide front‑line customer service as representatives of Amentum and the U.S. Government.
- Safeguard areas where Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is vulnerable, including applicant paperwork, electronic biometric data, and reports.
- Capture electronic fingerprints, photographs, and signatures within program‑wide processing times.
- Screen applicants to verify valid appointment notice and identification.
- Utilize crowd control barriers to maintain a safe entry area.
- Inspect applicants and belongings prior to entry.
- Screen applicants during health crises for possible entry decline per customer requirements.
- Perform periodic facility checks and report concerns to the Site Supervisor.
- Assist the Site Supervisor and/or government Immigration Service Officer in coordinating local law enforcement or first responders as necessary.
- Complete administrative paperwork accurately, including process times, reconciliation, visitor logs, and facility check sign‑offs.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. U.S. citizenship is required at this work location.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak and write in English.
- Ability to stand upright for scheduled shift duration, excluding meals and breaks.
- Ability to hold and grasp applicant’s hands for quality fingerprints.
- Ability to work in a high‑paced environment with the public.
- Typing and basic computer skills.
- Successful completion of biometric training and certification within 60 days.
- Ability to speak a foreign language.
$17.75 per hour.
