Job DescriptionPaulsen Printing is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Bindery Manager to lead and oversee all operations within our bindery department. This position is ideal for a production‑minded leader who thrives in a fast‑paced print manufacturing environment and has deep technical knowledge of commercial bindery equipment and workflow management.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily production activities, managing schedules and workflow, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting equipment issues, and personally operating bindery machinery as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day‑to‑day workflow and production scheduling for the bindery department
- Oversee operation and productivity of:
- Cutters
- Folders
- Stitchers
- PUR binding equipment
- Collators
- Ensure all jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule
- Personally operate bindery equipment during production demands or staffing shortages
- Monitor quality control throughout all finishing processes
- Train, mentor, and supervise bindery staff
- Coordinate with pressroom, prepress, and customer service teams to maintain workflow efficiency
- Troubleshoot mechanical and production issues to minimize downtime
- Perform preventative maintenance and work with service technicians when needed
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
- Manage inventory of bindery supplies and materials
- Minimum 7–10 years of bindery production experience in a commercial print environment
- Proven experience managing or leading bindery operations
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of commercial bindery equipment and finishing processes
- Ability to personally operate all major bindery equipment listed above
- Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting abilities
- Strong organizational and workflow management skills
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to quality, accuracy, and efficiency
- Experience with digital and offset print finishing environments
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or workflow optimization practices
