Job Description

This role focuses on fabrication welding, pipe repair, and mechanical maintenance to restore and improve process tanks and piping systems in a manufacturing environment. You work primarily on first shift, performing project-based work over an extended period while ensuring equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform fabrication welding for pipe repair, with a strong emphasis on MIG welding to restore and maintain piping systems.
  • Identify leaks in tanks and piping, assess the extent of damage, and carry out appropriate repairs to bring tanks back to standard.
  • Cut down and remove old tanks using torch cutters in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Execute pipe fitting tasks, including installing, modifying, and optimizing piping to create more efficient piping layouts.
  • Work with galvanized piping, carbon steel piping, and soap drying lines, ensuring structural integrity and reliability.
  • Carry out general preventive maintenance (PMs) on mechanical and piping systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Use stick welding and TIG welding as needed to support various repair and fabrication tasks.
  • Handle fatty acids and oils in both indoor and outdoor settings, following appropriate safety and handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and other trades to complete project work that is expected to last a minimum of six months and likely up to a year.
  • Work overtime as needed, often reaching 50–55 hours per week or more, to meet project timelines and maintenance demands.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of experience in welding, fabrication, and torch cutting.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding for fabrication and pipe repair.
  • Hands‑on experience with stick welding for structural and repair work.
  • Demonstrated skill using cutting torches for cutting down tanks and piping.
  • Ability to perform pipe fitting, including installing and modifying piping systems for improved efficiency.
  • Experience working with galvanized piping, carbon steel piping, and process lines such as soap drying lines.
  • Familiarity with general preventive maintenance practices on mechanical and piping systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training, ideally completed prior to or shortly after hire.
  • Comfort working with fatty acids, oils, and related process materials in an industrial setting.

Skills & Qualifications
  • TIG welding experience as a valuable plus for more specialized fabrication and repair tasks.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or process plant environment handling bar soap or similar products.
  • Ability to adapt to both indoor and outdoor work conditions, including dirty and oily environments.
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and willingness to follow OSHA guidelines and company safety policies.
  • Capacity to work flexible first‑shift hours, such as 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., depending on operational needs.
  • Willingness to work significant overtime, with no formal limit on overtime hours.
