Plant Manager (Chemical Manufacturing)
Location:
Memphis, TN (on-site; relocation assistance provided)
Compensation: $175K–$190K + $10K relocation bonus
A global manufacturer of fine chemicals and custom synthesis solutions, serving the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals markets. With a strong focus on green chemistry and technical innovation, the company operates from a highly regulated manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. The organization fosters a culture of integrity, safety, and operational excellence.
The Plant Manager will lead all manufacturing operations at the Memphis facility, overseeing production, EH&S, quality, logistics, and maintenance. This high-impact leadership role requires technical depth in chemical manufacturing and a strong track record of managing teams, capital budgets, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and play a key role in driving continuous improvement and capacity expansion initiatives.
Ensure full regulatory compliance (OSHA PSM, EPA, RCRA, ISO 9001)
Lead and mentor 9 direct reports across operations functions
Own and manage a $75M plant budget, including $5–6M Cap Ex
Set strategic plans for production targets and operational growth
Apply chemical engineering expertise to optimize batch and continuous processes
Lead QMS efforts and maintain alignment with company Quality Policy
Coordinate effectively with Sales, R&D, HR, and Finance
Continuously improve safety, productivity, and cost efficiency
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry (advanced degree a plus)
10–15 years of chemical manufacturing experience (fine chemicals)
At least 5 years in plant/operations leadership
Deep understanding of batch/continuous operations, process engineering, distillation
Experience with cost management, operating budgets, and capital project planning
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and formal quality systems
Previous work in a union environment preferred
