Overview
Life Unlimited. At Smith+Neb we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living. The Inspector 1 shall be responsible for performing basic visual/dimensional/functional inspections of products manufactured/assembled in‑house, determining whether or not the product meets specifications, and documenting these decisions. The Roving Inspector 1 shall also be responsible for executing inspections on operators performing a variety of processes on the operations floor.
Responsibilities- Inspect assembled product, semi‑finished product, and finished product per inspection procedures/drawings and to‑print specifications.
- Utilize attribute and variable measuring equipment/gauges as well as mating parts to determine as‑found/as‑left conditions of product.
- Support the qualification/validation processes for company product.
- Review corresponding product documentation to verify acceptability per specification and QSR requirements.
- Support department and organizational objectives.
- Represent and promote quality standards.
- Inspect operators performing a variety of processes on the operations floor.
- Perform other quality functions as required.
- Train other inspectors on required tasks.
- Operate automated inspection equipment such as vision systems and digital comparators.
- Work independently or within a team setting.
- Maintain neat and accurate documentation records.
- Communicate inspection results clearly to stakeholders.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0+ years of work experience in a related field and/or inspecting product per inspection procedures/drawings and to‑print specifications utilizing attribute and variable measuring equipment/gauges.
- Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and blueprint interpretation.
- Capability to detect nonconformities while performing repetitive inspections.
- Ability to make product judgments against applicable specifications.
- Experience in a manufacturing and/or clean‑room environment.
- Good communication skills to relay inspection results in a clear manner.
