Fitter
This role involves fitting, aligning, and assembling components in a sheet metal fabrication environment using detailed drawings, schematics, and blueprints. You will measure, cut, and position materials with high accuracy, perform light MIG welding, and collaborate closely with fabricators and welders to complete custom builds while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret detailed drawings, schematics, and blueprints to understand project specifications and requirements.
- Use tape measures and other measuring tools with high accuracy to mark, layout, and verify dimensions.
- Fit and align materials and components according to project specifications and tolerances.
- Perform light MIG welding to secure components and support fabrication work.
- Collaborate with fabricators, welders, and other team members to complete custom builds and assemblies.
- Inspect and verify dimensions and tolerances of assembled components to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in a fabrication environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and teammates about project status, issues, and required adjustments.
- Prior experience as a fitter in an industrial or construction environment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency using tape measures and other measuring tools with high accuracy.
- Experience performing light MIG welding for fabrication work.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in fitting, layout, and alignment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fabrication or machine shop setting.
- Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality.
- Ability to work the 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift.
Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of metalworking and fabrication techniques.
- Experience working in a sheet metal fabrication or machine shop environment.
- Certifications in welding or blueprint reading (considered a plus).
- Familiarity with general fabrication tools and equipment.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a sheet metal fabricating facility that is very dirty and loud, typical of an active industrial and machine shop setting. You will work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. shift around fabrication equipment, machinery, and metalworking processes. Personal protective equipment is required at all times, including steel toe shoes, work pants with no rips or tears, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
You will be on your feet frequently and will work closely with fabricators and welders in a production-focused environment that prioritizes safety and proper use of tools and equipment.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
