Position Purpose
The Senior Manager of Community Engagement leads Habitat’s affinity-based engagement strategy, serving as the primary relationship manager and on‑site leader for corporate, institutional, and special affinity build initiatives. This role is responsible for designing and delivering high‑quality volunteer and partner experiences that advance Habitat’s mission, strengthen long‑term relationships, and reinforce the organization’s values around dignity, safety, and community partnership.
The Senior Manager works at the intersection of volunteer engagement, corporate partnerships, and special affinity builds, translating participation into sustained commitment and leadership.
Essential Functions of Position- Affinity Builds & Corporate Engagement
- Lead the strategy, growth, and stewardship of all affinity builds (excluding CEO Build), including Builders Blitz, Athlete’s Build, Corporate and industry‑based builds, Greek and Divine Nine affinity builds, other specialty builds yet identified.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for corporate and affinity partners.
- Collaborate with Development Department to align engagement opportunities with broader partnership goals.
- Identify opportunities to deepen repeat engagement and long‑term partnerships.
- Volunteer Build Management
- Provide overall oversight of the volunteer build‑site experience for affinity and corporate builds.
- Set standards and expectations for volunteer engagement in partnership with the Volunteer Engagement Manager.
- Ensure volunteer experiences are safe, organized, mission‑centered, and consistent.
- Serve as Habitat’s visible engagement leader on‑site during affinity builds.
- Special Affinity & Signature Engagements
- Lead special or high‑profile affinity engagements as assigned (excluding MLK programming).
- Adapt engagement models to meet the needs of diverse groups while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with the Director of Community Engagement to set annual priorities and capacity guardrails.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Volunteer Engagement, Events, Development, and Brand Strategy.
- Provide guidance and direction to the Community Engagement Program Manager.
- 5–7+ years of experience in community engagement, corporate partnerships, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with corporate and institutional partners.
- Experience leading volunteer or participant‑facing experiences.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Comfort working in highly visible, relationship‑driven environments.
- Growth and sustainability of affinity and corporate build partnerships.
- High satisfaction among volunteers and partners.
- Strong repeat engagement and partner retention.
- Consistent, mission‑aligned build‑site experiences.
