OverviewThe Engage Arkansas Civic Engagement Outreach Intern will support the Civic Engagement Manager by elevating the stories of service programs, volunteers, and organizations across Arkansas. This role focuses on scheduling and conducting interviews, writing feature articles, and developing narrative content that highlights the impact of civic engagement and public service.
Through The Civic Challenge, Engage Arkansas works to ignite civic engagement by promoting organizations addressing critical issues impacting Arkansas communities. Each month, the intern spotlights a specific issue area by interviewing representatives from Arkansas state agencies, nonprofit organizations, Ameri Corps programs, and volunteers working to address that need. The intern will also periodically support storytelling and promotional efforts related to Ameri Corps programs and Ameri Corps volunteer recruitment.

Skills & Specifications- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable conducting interviews and synthesizing information into clear, compelling
written stories
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Interest in civic engagement, public service, and community-based organizations
- Proficient in business software applications (MS Word, Google Workspace, Outlook)
- Experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom
- Experience with design or content tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus but not required
- Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Must be available during normal business hours
- Paid opportunity (400 hours at totaling to $6,000)

- Must be 18 years of age
- Enrolled in an accredited college or a recent graduate
- Enrolled in good standing as a sophomore or above
- Actively pursuing a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, Political Science, or related field
- Availability to work 15–30 hours per week
