Job Summary

Coordinates and provides care utilizing the critical thinking framework. Blends caring, compassion, knowledge, and integrity to provide safe, timely, and quality care while facilitating movement of patients throughout all of Baptist facilities. Patient placement nurses ensure that patients are placed in the most appropriate level of care based on their medical condition and needs, coordinating transfers between hospital facilities and liaising with healthcare providers.

Makes appropriate bed assignments for admissions, ED, intra‑hospital, and entity transfers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Assess bed availability for all areas of the hospital.
  • Proficient in electronic bed management systems.
  • Participate in activities designed to improve health care delivery.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support lifelong learning.
  • Complete assigned goals.
  • Coordinate patient admissions and transfers, working with healthcare providers, patients, and families to ensure appropriate unit placement.
  • Assess patient medical conditions, diagnoses, and treatment plans to determine the best unit and level of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate care and treatment.
  • Ensure all necessary patient information is accurately documented and communicated to the appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Manage patient flow throughout the hospital to prevent delays or bottlenecks.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations, including patient privacy and safety.
  • Follow the escalation process involving Administration and House Supervisors.
  • Facilitate transfer back processes between Baptist entities.
  • Monitor and coordinate care for emergent/urgent conditions (e.g., STEMI) through Pulsara.
  • Enter orders promptly for strokes and STEMI cases.
  • Assist facilities with problem‑solving related to patient movement and orders.
Specifications Experience
  • Minimum

    Required:

    RN with 1 year in acute care.
  • Preferred/Desired: Knowledge of Baptist hospitals and specialty units, EPIC experience.
Education
  • Minimum

    Required:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Special Skills
  • Minimum

    Required:

    Strong computer literacy, proficient typing skills, excellent multitasking ability, professional phone etiquette.
  • Preferred/Desired: BLS certification.
