Position Summary- The ASC Director for Music City Surgery Center oversees all administrative and clinical operations of the ambulatory surgery center, ensuring high-quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and efficient business performance. This role requires leadership in managing surgical services, particularly in ophthalmology procedures such as cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, and other outpatient eye surgeries. This position is a “working” leadership role that participates in patient care activities adhering to the requirements of all aspects of the surgery center.
Leadership
- Direct day-to-day operations of the ophthalmology ASC, ensuring smooth surgical workflow, patient and staff satisfaction, and surgeon collaboration.
- Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to maintain accreditation with The Joint Commission and regulatory compliance with CMS and OSHA.
- Oversee staff and surgery scheduling, inventory management, and equipment maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
- Monitor infection control practices and ensure adherence to clinical protocols.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
- Establishes implements and evaluates quality and standards of patient care in conjunction with medical staff and clinical staff.
- Develops patient care protocols, preoperative and postoperative assessment procedures, nursing policies and procedures, physician orders and standard discharge instructions.
- Conducts audits of nursing staff documentation and patient care through review of medical records.
- Establishes and oversees a system to ensure adequate supplies of controlled drugs, supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available to meet patient needs 100% of the time, within budgetary constraints.
- Purchasing of required supplies, controlled drugs, and equipment.
- Ensures non-expired sterile packs and supplies are available 100% of the time for scheduled cases.
- Oversees/coordinates obtaining and returning of borrowed/rented equipment and supplies in the most cost effective and timely manner.
- Collaborates with outside vendors when new technology is procured to assure proper staff orientation of equipment.
- Work with CFO to prepare and manage the ASC budget, monitor expenses, and optimize financial performance.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), revenue cycles, and cost containment strategies.
- Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate clinical and administrative staff.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage staffing levels according to case volume.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare for and manage audits, inspections, and licensure renewals.

Salary:
Staring from $100,000 annually
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (Master’s preferred).
- Current RN license in Tennessee (REQUIRED)
- ACLS and BLS certifications (or obtain upon hire)
- Preferably 5 years of experience in ASC management, ideally in ophthalmology.
- Knowledge of ambulatory surgical procedures, CMS Conditions for Coverage, The Joint Commission standards, and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Prior experience in ophthalmic surgery center operations.
- Familiarity with equipment and technology used in ophthalmology procedures.
- Credentialing and privileging experience.
