Overview

This Full‑Time Traveling Clinician role serves as a primary coverage resource across multiple health centers. The position is anchored in a designated home‑base clinic (Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville) with regular travel throughout the Tennessee footprint to support all clinic locations. Applicants should be specifically interested in a travel‑focused position and have the ability to reliably work and travel between home‑base and other sites.

The role does not include employer‑provided housing or relocation for travel assignments.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct thorough health assessments, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, and psychosocial histories.
  • Perform physical exams with a focus on reproductive health, including breast and pelvic exams, cancer screenings, and STI diagnosis.
  • Provide counseling and education on contraception, fertility, sexual health, and overall wellness.
  • Conduct and interpret diagnostic studies, lab tests, and ultrasounds per medical guidelines.
  • Deliver patient‑centered care and follow‑up as needed, meeting productivity expectations (approximately 30‑35 patients per day with a combination of scheduled appointments and walk‑ins).
  • Ensure patient care aligns with medical standards, guidelines, and protocols for accreditation.
  • Respond to after‑hours patient calls as part of the on‑call team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Clinical Excellence, Quality Risk Management & Leadership
  • Serve as a leader in ensuring efficient, high‑quality patient care.
  • Mentor and lead healthcare assistants during clinical procedures.
  • Participate in training, protocol updates, and implementation of new clinical programs.
  • Work closely with the Chief Clinical Officer, Lead Clinician, and Medical Director to continuously enhance services and patient outcomes.
  • Support efforts to maintain high patient retention, appointment adherence, and efficient clinic flow.
  • Participate in quality risk management ensuring patient care aligns with Planned Parenthood Federation of America and local affiliate standards.
Team Collaboration & Advocacy
  • Collaborate with community organizations and healthcare agencies to connect patients with additional resources.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a high standard of care.
  • Demonstrate a positive, problem‑solving attitude while upholding PPTNM’s mission and values.
  • Assist in surgical clinic support roles when needed.
What You Bring
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent education in Physician Assistant or Nurse Midwifery programs.
  • Minimum of three years experience as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Nurse Midwife preferred.
  • Active and unrestricted Tennessee Nursing License.
  • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife.
  • CPR Certification; BLS; ACLS certification preferred.
  • DEA Licensure required.

  • Knowledge of medical documentation and language.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi‑task, problem‑solve and function as a leader.
  • Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in‑clinic and on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
  • Participate in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.
  • Commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.
  • Strong patient assessment and diagnostic skills, including ultrasound interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑energy clinical environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
