Description

Provides professional nursing care according to the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice, in conformance with the scope of practice, plan of care and physician/nursing orders ensuring that the highest quality of nursing care is delivered in accordance with the established standards and procedures. Must love the geriatric population and understand/embrace the importance of quality of life. There is 1 position available for 3pm-11pm, Monday
-Friday, and listed below for Trezevant Terrace Assisted Living.

3PM - 11PM, Monday
- Friday ($2.00 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL)

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer medicines (p.o., IM, subq), manage IV's effectively; perform special care treatments and procedures such as dressings, foley catheterizations, operation of pumps, special beds as ordered per policy and procedure
  • Process medical and nursing orders, according to facility policy and procedure
  • Operate necessary equipment properly to carry out physician's orders
  • Intervene, according to facility policy and procedure, in emergency and life threatening situations
  • Report timely with pertinent data in a concise manner between outgoing and incoming shifts
  • Perform other activities as assigned
  • Chart significant and meaningful observations of the residents reflecting nursing process
  • Assess and identify resident problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes
  • Supervise ancillary nursing staff effectively
  • Collaborate with all members of the health care team to promote quality resident care
  • Communicate with physicians as necessary
  • Communication skills reflecting caring and respect for residents, families and other members of the health care team
  • Knowledgeable of legal guidelines and ethical standards of the LPN in the state of Tennessee
  • Attend 12 in-service programs yearly to maintain competency expectations
  • Knowledgeable of Trezevant's Mission, vision and values
  • Report for work on time, as scheduled as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Qualifications

Scope of Authority/Reporting:

The License Practical Nurse (LPN) will make clinical decisions. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and/or designee.

Job Skills:

  • Organization Skills - plan and coordinate the performance of duties to meet requirements of plan of care.
  • Physical Skills - meet requirements outlined specifically as listed per physical activity, visual demands, physical surroundings, and hazards applicable to this position.
  • Professional Skills - treat resident with respect and dignity; maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Special Demands

  • Must possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and have a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community.
  • Ability to communicate directions and goals clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when the circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Mental & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Requires ability to stand and walk short and long distances for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lifting and/or carrying objects in excess of 30 pounds.
  • Requires reaching above, below and at shoulder level.
  • Job's Normal Work Environment:

  • Works in a clean environment, well lighted and well-ventilated commons building, laundry facilities, wellness facilities and residential units.
  • Work environment involves slight physical risks or hazardous conditions and exposure to communicable diseases, which require following basic safety precautions (wearing lab coats, rubber gloves, and so on).
  • License:

  • Maintain a State of TN or a multi-state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Must possess a current CPR certification.
