Job Summary
Intensive Care Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Physician Assistant (P.A.) will provide advanced care to critically ill patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting, collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive assessments of surgical and critically ill patients.
Diagnose and manage acute and life-threatening conditions, including sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, multi-organ dysfunction, etc.
Develop and implement treatment plans, that include but not limited to ventilator management and advanced life support interventions.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and echocardiograms.
Perform procedures that include, but not limited to central line placement, arterial line placements, intubation, chest tube insertion, and lumbar punctures, Vascath, Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Cardioversion.
Skilled in use and interpretation of data from complex monitoring systems such as ventilators, blood gas analysis, CPAP, BiPAP, IABP, Impella, ECMO, advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices (i.e. pulmonary artery catheter), and intracranial pressure monitoring.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based critical care.
Educate patients and families on disease management and post-ICU recovery.
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
QualificationsMaster's or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) or Physician Assistant with a specialization in Acute Care.
Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in both TN and MS
Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Physician Assistant.
Minimum 2-3 years of experience in critical care settings preferred.
Strong clinical skills in advanced life support therapies.
Excellent communication and decision-making with critical thinking skills
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) / Transplant Unit, Critical Care Unit setting at either Memphis or Desoto Hospital
CVTS clinic as needed to see Post/Op Cardiac, Vascular or Thoracic patients
Fast-paced environment requiring rapid assessment and intervention.
Collaboration with cardiac, thoracic, vascular, intensivists, pulmonologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
