Position Summary
We are seeking a Pediatric Oncology Nurse II to serve as a weekend (Saturday & Sunday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) nurse on the Kay 4 unit, a 17‑bed unit focused on hematology disorders, leukemia, and lymphoma. The role involves delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care in a research‑oriented environment and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, monitoring, medication administration, and pain management for pediatric oncology patients.
- Implement and support research protocols, ensuring protocol compliance and accurate data collection.
- Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatments, and self‑care instructions.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other staff to coordinate care plans.
- Participate in unit rounds, interdisciplinary meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation and reports in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Assure adherence to safety and infection‑control standards during all patient interactions.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Tennessee or a nurse‑licensure compact state.
- BSN degree with at least 18 months of clinical experience in pediatrics, Hematology/Oncology, or related field.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) requirement;
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred where applicable. - Strong knowledge of pediatric growth and development and age‑specific assessment techniques.
- Demonstrated competence in pediatric or oncology nursing and research protocol work.
- Excellent interpersonal, patient education, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse (CPHON) or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
- Estimated hourly rate: $31.50 – $55.00 for a pediatric oncology nurse II during weekend shifts.
