Overview
Registered Nurse (RN) serves as a consistent care coordinator throughout the continuum of care for patients within the Methodist Le Bonheur health system. The RN assesses patients’ physical, psychological, and social needs, coordinates communication with providers, and ensures education, screening, prevention, and follow‑up care.
Responsibilities- Assesses physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and improves their care experience.
- Creates a seamless flow through the health system to facilitate patient care.
- Develops and coordinates education, resources, and activities that provide understanding and support for patients and families.
- Maintains reliable systems to document, track, and monitor patient data.
- Performs clinical procedures within the scope of nursing practice and training.
- May perform telephone duties within the scope of the RN role.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
- Required:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Required:
Registered Nurse 0-1 years. - Preferred:
Clinical nursing 1–3 years.
- Required:
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – American Heart Association. - Required:
Registered Nurse, Tennessee – Tennessee Board of Nursing. - Preferred:
Certification in clinical specialty.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledgeable of the system’s health resources to navigate patients to appropriate care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Strong computer skills.
- Role model in customer service and patient care; displays sensitivity and compassion.
The role involves climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination and be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. Requires close visual acuity and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies. Exposure to patient body fluids and hazardous materials is possible.
