Surgical Services Admin

This position coordinates / directs the provision of patient care by the staff on a 24-hour basis and involves delivery of nursing care based upon nursing process and supervisor and coordination of nursing personnel activities according to hospital policies and procedures. Is available to assist staff, Unit Director and leadership in all care aspects.

40 hrs/wk; 5 days per week

• Continuously coordinates the provision of patient care and assignment of care.
• Continuously ensures the Director is aware of activities on an ongoing basis.
• Continuously assists the Director by communicating and addressing staff performance behaviors and completing staff evaluations.
• Continuously acts as a resource for nursing staff, physicians, patients and families.
• Continuously participates in Case Management, Quality Assurance Monitoring, and Quality Improvement efforts.
• Performs other related work as required.

• Ability to effectively communicate with staff, patients, physicians and other community agencies; provides accurate and complete handoff communication to any health care provider according to policy.
• Ability to utilize the nursing process.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to function with a high stress tolerance and demonstrates a professional behavior with a positive outlook during peak periods of activity and stressful situations.
• Ability to lead people, resolve conflicts effectively and be an effective decision maker.
• Ability to utilize listening skills to engender staff self-confidence.
• Knowledge and implementation of standardized PPE regarding the prevention and transmission of infectious disease/isolation process.
• Skillful in personal management including performance appraisals, coaching, disciplinary actions and labor relations interface.
• Maintains licensure and required certification and annual education requirements.
