Southwind Animal Hospital, a long‑established and highly respected practice in East Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking a dedicated Medical Director (Veterinarian) to join our amazing team. We provide comprehensive, compassionate care to our loyal clients and their beloved companions, and we’re looking for a doctor who shares our passion. The ideal candidate will be a trusted leader who fosters excellence in veterinary care by mentoring and empowering the team, while cultivating a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth.

• Compensation for part‑time roles is prorated based on experience and hours/shifts worked. Salary ranges listed in this posting reflect full‑time roles.

• Maintain a high quality of progressive veterinary care
  • Oversee and give directives regarding medical standards and quality of care
  • Set policies as they pertain to the practice of medicine
  • Work toward making various services work as one team
  • In conjunction with appropriate leadership team members, recommend additions to the hospital inventory
  • Budget for new equipment and provide a reasonable cost estimate and return on investment
  • See patients and handle clinical practice
  • Ensure positive communication with clients and between doctors, including the proper transfer of patient care responsibilities
  • Review patient records for completeness and accuracy and use them to promote medical excellence
  • Appropriately manage controlled drugs
  • Review and approve requests for alternatives to additional drugs and medical supplies
  • Conduct regular doctor meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
• Handle patient care problems, client complaints, and referral partner issues
• Manage veterinary, client, and board complaints and recommend resolutions
