Job Summary
Laboratory Analyst III performs at the entry level under close supervision performing routine tasks in processing or preparing laboratory specimens and material.

Laboratory / Quality Assurance - Work Location:
Memphis, TN 38141 - Work Schedule:
8‑hour shift with mandatory and voluntary overtime, 5 days per week; rotating shifts 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm - Work Shift:
8‑hour shift; overtime and weekend/holiday work required - PPE:
Hard hat, steel‑toed safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, goggles, beard/hairnet, face shield, autoclave gloves, protective clothing and other PPE as assigned
Job Duties & Accountabilities
- Communicate clearly in English both verbally and written
- Wear appropriate required safety gear
- Attend work regularly and reliably
- Work rotating shifts as assigned
- Work overtime as scheduled or directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Operate computers to access/utilize company e‑mail and to monitor tests
- Demonstrate awareness of and compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner
- Participate in work‑related training programs and adhere to company core values
- Report pertinent information to appropriate company personnel
- Perform all necessary tests on products according to outlined protocols
- Activate, deactivate and modify quality plans
- Monitor production units
- Track testing to ensure proper reporting
- Calibrate and maintain all appropriate equipment
- Enter pertinent data into the appropriate computer program
- Cutting bags and collecting samples of soy powder to be analyzed as needed
- Set up laboratory equipment
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and maintain all appropriate equipment and work areas
- Prepare samples for testing and analysis
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment common to Memphis laboratories
- Weigh, analyze, and measure ingredients used in testing
- Record and compile test results
- Enter test results into computerized databases and/or data entry books
- Perform job duties in a manner that follows food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control
- Education:
Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology preferred - College courses:
Total of 16 semesters of science and math, including at least 12 semester hours of chemistry, microbiology, or math; minimum 8 semester hours of chemistry and/or microbiology; minimum 4 semester hours of math - Experience:
None required
- Knowledge and experience in a laboratory environment
- Use and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Safe work practices
- Weekend work required
- Position involves bench work and process support activities
Production facility lab environment – climate controlled, but may have exposures to extreme temperatures and external conditions. May involve walking through the facility where there are moving mechanical parts and mobile equipment. Occasional exposure to noise levels while in the production area requiring hearing protection. Dust particles and/or soy powder and chemical odors may be present.
Travel RequirementsUp to 20% of work time may involve travel.
