QA Engineer

Location:

West Tennessee (onsite)

Position Summary

The QA Engineer is responsible for supporting quality assurance activities at the Memphis electrolyte manufacturing site. This role ensures compliance with customer requirements, internal quality standards, and regulatory expectations, while supporting stable plant operation during the transition period and post-acquisition ramp‑up phase.

The position plays a key role in customer quality response, process quality monitoring, documentation control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Quality Control

  • Supervise and promote plant quality systems
  • Monitor production quality performance and deviations
  • Review batch records and production documentation
  • Lead and organize investigation of nonconformities and process deviations
  • Ensure traceability of raw materials and finished products

2. Customer Quality Support

  • Support customer quality audits and documentation requests
  • Respond to customer complaints and quality inquiries
  • Lead and organize root cause investigations (RCA)
  • Supervise and promote corrective and preventive actions
  • Maintain communication with customer quality teams when required

3. Quality System Management

Maintenance and implementation of:

  • ISO 9001
  • IATF 16949 (preferred)
  • internal QA procedures
  • document control systems
  • change management processes

4. Incoming / In‑Process / Final Inspection

1. Incoming Inspection

  • Core responsibility:
    Prevent unqualified materials from flowing into the production line

2. In‑Process Inspection

  • Core responsibility:
    Monitor the production process and identify potential hazards before problems erupt in batches.

3. Final Inspection

  • Core responsibility:
    Check the quality of finished products and ensure that shipped products meet customer requirements.

Coordinate and monitor:

  • raw material quality verification
  • in‑process quality checkpoints
  • final product inspection
  • laboratory test result review

Typical electrolyte‑related parameters include:

  • moisture content
  • impurity levels (ICP)
  • conductivity
  • composition accuracy

5. Audit Support

Dominate:

  • internal audits

Support:

  • customer audits
  • supplier audits (if required)

Prepare:

  • quality reports
  • deviation summaries
  • corrective action tracking

6. Transition Support (Critical for First Year)

During the first year after acquisition:

  • Receive and review quality handover documents
  • Assist implementation of GEO quality standards
  • Stabilize plant quality workflow
  • Coordinate with global QA teams
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Chemistry
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Materials Science
    • Industrial Engineering
    • or related field (Bachelor of Science graduate)
  • 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering
  • Experience with structured quality systems such as:
    • ISO 9001
    • IATF 16949
    • or similar
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools:
    • 8D or A3
Preferred Qualifications

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with liquid chemical products
  • Experience supporting automotive or battery customers
  • Experience in electrolyte or lithium‑ion battery materials industry
  • Audit participation experience

Additional advantages:

  • SAP QM experience
  • Statistical quality tools (SPC)
