Systems Engineer

Job Description

Deliver desired, sustainable business outcomes and assure the integrity and continuity of our systems. This position establishes and maintains Auto Zone’s Quality Engineering (QE) best practices, writes test scenarios, executes tests both manually and with automated tools, and leads a team. The QE works with engineers, architects, business analysts, product owners and other team members to apply domain knowledge, use technical skills, mentor others, support customers, resolve problems, and train as required.

• Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, business analysts, product owners, and other team members to understand requirements and develop test strategy.
• Develop test plans, create test cases, and execute test cases.
• Write and maintain test automation scripts.
• Perform functional, integration (end‑to‑end) tests for new and existing applications.
• Leverage AI tools for test case generation and optimization.
• Participate in the review and approval process of project deliverables.
• Advise project teams on appropriate testing approaches, consulting on testing tool sets.
• Assist in identifying test environment needs and coordinate establishment of appropriate test environments.
• Oversee processes for identifying, tracking, and reporting results of test procedures.
• Find, track, and prioritize defects, working toward resolution.
• Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.
• Participate in testing of production emergency bug fixes.
• Participate in release production validation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• 4–7 years of test engineering experience, including functional testing and test automation solutions.
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver projects on time.
• Extensive experience with SDLC and QA methodologies such as functional, E2E, automation, compatibility, regression, and usability testing.
• Expertise in Testing Life Cycle and Defect Life Cycle.
• Hands‑on experience with Jira, Selenium, SoapUI, Squish, and Jenkins.
• Knowledge of Java, SQL, Unix and scripting languages.
• Hands‑on experience or exposure to AI tools such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar.
• Experience in test data management and use of test data management tools.
• Experience working in CI/CD/CT models.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Experience with Agile methodology.
• Understanding of prompt engineering for generating test cases, scripts, and documentation.
• Experience in web service/API/REST testing.
