Research Scientist, Biomedical Science, Research Assistant/Associate
The Researcher performs laboratory tasks under direct supervision. Expected to understand underlying concepts of experimental design and to implement these concepts under direct supervision. Dr. Jasmine Plummer is seeking a Researcher to focus on aiding her team’s work in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of complex diseases. This entry-level Researcher position is ideal for recent graduates (Bachelor’s or Master’s) seeking hands‑on experience in a dynamic laboratory setting.

The Plummer Lab is centered on understanding how cellular origins and perturbations lead to disease development, particularly cancer and neurodevelopmental disorders. The lab employs a comprehensive multi-omics approach to analyze various biological data types, including genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
Top Skills We Are Looking For- Hands‑on experience with cell culture, including aseptic technique and maintenance of cell lines
- Strong foundation in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and basic DNA/RNA workflows
- Proficiency in pipetting with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience with sample preparation and handling of biological materials
- Solid lab documentation and record‑keeping practices
- Familiarity with basic data analysis and interpretation of experimental results
- Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
- Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by the supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
- Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
- May draft results/data for posters, presentations, or publications.
- Operates lab equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific area is required.
Minimum ExperienceNo prior experience required.
CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher - Plummer Lab (Center for Spatial OMICs).
