DescriptionSummer Internships with Discover Life in America (External Application Process)
Want to explore the Smokies while contributing to science this summer? Discover Life in America is hiring biology interns for June and July 2026! Tasks include collecting, processing, and identifying specimens, assisting with public outreach events, and more.
Biology interns primarily help us with scientific research in GSMNP. The DLiA biology internship is an exciting opportunity for students interested in any kind of organismal biology to get experience in fieldwork and taxonomy (especially related to entomology and botany), to get a taste for nonprofit work, and to generally bask in the biodiversity wonderland that is the Smokies!
Qualifications- Have a keen interest in organismal biology
- Be familiar with some group of organisms living in the Smokies (e.g. wildflowers, birds, beetles, mosses, salamanders) OR have a group in mind that you’d like to get to know over the summer (this list might be helpful)
