Rotating shifts: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. 8‑hour shifts with mandatory and voluntary overtime. 5 days per week. Shift work, weekends, holidays required.
Required PPE and Equipment- Hard hat, steel‑toed safety shoes, bootie covers, gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, goggles, beard/hairnet, face shield, autoclave gloves, protective clothing.
- Equipment: scissors, writing utensils, computer keyboard and mouse, transport devices, digital scale, pipet (auto or manual), hot plate, water bath, dispenser, refrigerator, dishwasher, vortex mixer, cleaning supplies.
Job Duties & Accountabilities
- Communicate clearly in English.
- Wear required safety gear.
- Attend work reliably and on rotating shifts.
- Work overtime as scheduled.
- Operate computers for email and monitoring tests.
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean workspace.
- Operate mobile equipment safely.
- Participate in training programs and adhere to company core values.
- Report pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
- Perform all necessary tests on products according to protocols.
- Activate, deactivate, and modify quality plans.
- Monitor production units.
- Track testing to ensure proper reporting.
- Calibrate and maintain equipment.
- Enter data into computer programs.
- Cut bags and collect samples of soy powder.
- Set up laboratory equipment.
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and maintain equipment and work areas.
- Prepare samples for testing and analysis.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
- Weigh, analyze, and measure ingredients used in testing.
- Record and compile test results.
- Enter test results into databases or data entry books.
- Perform job duties in accordance with food safety and quality guidelines (HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, sanitation, pest control).
- Education/Training: Associate’s degree preferred. Courses in Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology. Minimum 12 semester hours of chemistry/microbiology, 8 semester hours of chemistry/microbiology, and 4 semester hours of math.
- Experience: None required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Laboratory environment experience, instrument use and maintenance, communication and organizational skills, safe work practices, weekend availability, bench work and process support.
Laboratory in a production facility: climate controlled, possible exposure to extreme temperatures, noise requiring hearing protection, dust particles, soy powder and chemical odors. May involve walking through facility with moving mechanical parts and mobile equipment.
Physical DemandsMedium physical demand: lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, standing, walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending, and repetitive hand movements. See details in job analysis.
