Term Research Technician 2
This is a part-time grant-funded position funded until June 1, 2027 (20 hours per week).
Job Summary /
Essential Job Functions:
The Term Research Technician 2 supports ongoing research in obesity and diabetes using genetic and surgical mouse models in the Department of Physiology. This position is supported by a Neuroscience Pilot Fund award and is tied to the duration and scope of the funded project. This position assists with the day-to-day experimental activities, including mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, PCR-based assays, and in vivo procedures such as body weight monitoring and sample collection.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Science or a related field. (Transcript required)
Experience:
Or a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years. (Prior experience with ELISA or histology-based assays is preferred.)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and standard operating protocols.
- Skill in following established experimental protocols and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to perform routine laboratory tasks under supervision in a consistent and timely manner.
- Ability to handle and work with laboratory animals in a controlled research setting.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple routine tasks within a laboratory environment.
Work Schedule:
This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
