Job Overview: Laboratory Analyst III performs at the entry level under close supervision performing routine tasks in processing or preparing laboratory specimens and material.

Work Schedule: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, 5 days per week
Work Shift: 8 hours shift with mandatory and voluntary overtime. Shift work, as well as weekends, holidays are required.
PPE: Hard hat, steel-toed safety shoes, bootie covers, gloves as needed and required, hearing protection, safety glasses, goggles as needed, beard/hairnet, face shield, autoclave gloves, protective clothing and other PPE as assigned and required.
Tools and Equipment: Scissors, writing utensils, computer keyboard and mouse, transport devices, digital scale, auto or manual pipet, hot plate, water bath, dispenser, refrigerator, dishwasher, Vortex, mop, broom and various cleaning supplies and equipment

Job Duties & Accountabilities
- Communicate clearly in English both verbally and written
- Wear appropriate required safety gear
- Attend work regularly and reliably
- Work rotating shifts as assigned
- Work overtime as scheduled or directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Operate computers to access/utilize company e-mail and to monitor tests
- Demonstrate awareness of and compliance with all pertinent safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Operate mobile equipment in a safe manner
- Participate in work related training programs and adhere to Company Core Values
- Report pertinent information to appropriate company personnel
- Perform all necessary tests on products according to outlined protocols
- Activate, de-active and modify Quality plans
- Monitor production units
- Track testing to ensure proper reporting
- Calibrate and maintain all appropriate equipment
- Enter pertinent data into the appropriate computer program
- Cutting bags and collecting samples of soy powder to be analyzed as needed.
- Set up laboratory equipment
- Calibrate, clean, sterilize, and maintain all appropriate equipment and work areas
- Prepare samples for testing and analysis
- Operate and trouble shoot laboratory equipment common to Memphis laboratories
- Weigh, analyze, and measure ingredients used in testing
- Record and compile test results
- Enter test results into computerized databases and/or data entry books
- Perform job duties in a manner that follow food safety and quality guidelines including but not limited to HACCP, GMPs, QA Policies, Sanitation, and Pest Control.
Education/Training Requirements: Associates Degree
College courses to include:- Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology Degree Preferred
- Total of 16 semesters of science and math, which includes a… Minimum of 12 semester hours of chemistry, micro, or math
- Minimum of 8 semester hours of chemistry and / or micro
- Minimum of 4 semester hours of math.

- Knowledge and experience in a laboratory environment
- Use and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Safe work practices
- Weekend work required
- Position involves bench work and process support activities
Production facility lab environment – climate controlled, but also may have exposures to extreme temperatures and external conditions. May be walking through facility where there are moving mechanical parts and mobile equipment. Occasional exposure to noise levels while in the production area which require hearing protection. Dust particles and/ or Soy powder and chemical odors may be present.
