The Department of Immunology's Flow Cytometry Core is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cell Sorting Researcher to support the operation of a Thermo Fisher Scientific Bigfoot™ high-speed cell sorter. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a highly collaborative research environment supporting innovative immunology research.
The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in biology or a related life science field. Coursework or experience in immunology, cell biology, or related disciplines is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, as this role requires daily interaction and collaboration with faculty, trainees, researchers, and staff across the Department of Immunology.
Candidates should have an interest in learning and operating advanced scientific instrumentation, applying technical skills to support complex research workflows, and contributing to a team-focused environment. Prior experience operating a flow cytometer or cell sorter is not required; comprehensive training will be provided by experienced laboratory staff and Thermo Fisher Scientific representatives.
This position is ideal for an individual seeking to develop expertise in flow cytometry, cell sorting technologies, and research support within a world-class biomedical research environment.
Job Responsibilities:- Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
- Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
- Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
- May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications
- Operates lab equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required

CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher
