Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly motivated research technician with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Applicants with 1-2 years of lab experience of studying metabolic diseases will be prioritized. Our laboratory is committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment where trainees can thrive scientifically and professionally. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a premier center for research and treatment of potentially fatal childhood diseases, including cancer and certain blood, genetic, and immunodeficiency disorders.

A Researcher position is available to study molecular regulation of nucleotide metabolism across diverse human pathophysiological contexts. As a part of the newly established St. Jude Center for Pharmacogenomics, our laboratory aims to uncover fundamental mechanisms governing metabolic reprogramming and translate these discoveries into therapeutic strategies for human disease (Wu et al., Cell Metabolism, 2024, PMID: ; Wu et al., Science, 2025, PMID: ).
We employ multidisciplinary approaches, including CRISPR-based functional genomics, stable isotope tracing, metabolomics, molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and mouse models to investigate how nucleotide metabolism influences disease progression and treatment response.
- Performs laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
- Follows basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
- Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
- May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications
- Operates lab equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance

This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher
