The Department of Pharmacology seeks a Postdoctoral Scholar to execute animal behavior models and cellular patch-clamp electrophysiology to investigate the neurobiology of addiction.
Responsibilities- Conducts cellular patch-clamp electrophysiology recordings to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying alcohol use disorder and stress phenotypes.
- Performs stereotaxic animal surgeries, precise brain tissue dissections, and viral tracing studies.
- Executes rodent behavioral assays and maintains standard animal husbandry and care.
- Prepares laboratory solutions, including pharmacological agonists and antagonists.
- Trains and mentors other laboratory personnel in electrophysiology techniques.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Ph.D. in the field of Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, or a similar field.
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of experience in electrophysiology in models of stress/addiction using rodents or a similar field. One publication in a related field is required.
- Ability to actively contribute to manuscript writing.
- Ability to perform rodent brain tissue dissections and the whole-cell patch-clamp electrophysiology necessary to execute the group's proposed research questions.
- Ability to work independently and train students in the laboratory.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position may occasionally be required to work weekends.
