Faculty Position - Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control, Implementation Science

SJCRH The Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control e Children's Research Hospital invites applications for a faculty position in implementation science. We seek a creative, collaborative, mission-driven investigator who will develop an independent, externally funded research program and help accelerate the adoption, scale-up, sustainability, and equitable impact of evidence-based practices across pediatric cancer, survivorship, and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

The faculty member will complement a well-established research program consisting of highly innovative clinical, biological, and population-health sciences research (both observational and interventional studies) among survivors of childhood cancer. Further, we conduct research to translate our findings into effective strategies to avert or mitigate cancer-treatment-related complications and improve the quality of life of childhood cancer survivors in alignment with implementation science activities.

This recruitment is designed primarily for a mid-career investigator with a strong record of implementation science scholarship, competitive extramural funding, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentorship. We will also consider an exceptional early-career investigator who demonstrates clear scientific independence, a compelling funding trajectory, and the potential to become a national leader in the field.

Substantive formal training or demonstrable expertise in implementation science theories, frameworks, measures, designs, and analytic approaches are expected. Evidence of an independent and coherent program of research, including peer-reviewed publications with senior, corresponding, or otherwise clearly independent authorship, and record of competitive extramural research support appropriate to career stage are desired.

Our research uses state-of-the-art approaches to assess and evaluate adverse outcomes and to design interventions to optimize health. Our Department, and associated Cancer Center Research Programs in the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center, include a diverse team of investigators with expertise in epidemiology/biostatistics, oncology/cardiology/neurology/nursing, genetics/bioinformatics, psychology/neuropsychology, exercise science/rehabilitation, symptoms/patient-reported outcomes, and health behavior/health services research.

We have a growing number of faculty with experience and training in implementation science. We actively collaborate across Cancer Center Research Programs, engaging with both clinic- and laboratory-based researchers to advance clinical care and knowledge on childhood cancer and associated late effects, encompassing biological, clinical, and social determinants and mechanisms.

This position offers a deeply interdisciplinary community spanning epidemiology, biostatistics, oncology, nursing, psychology, rehabilitation, health behavior, health services research, genetics, bioinformatics, and patient-reported outcomes. There are extensive opportunities for stand-alone implementation science research and integration into existing research activities.

Our Department is home to both the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study with over 38,000 childhood cancer survivors diagnosed from  in North America, and the St. Jude Lifetime Cohort with over 6,000 clinically assessed childhood cancer survivors treated e Children's Research Hospital since 1962.
