Job Summary
As a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand, contribute to building our reputation, assist customers with product needs, and lead a team, ensuring a positive and productive work environment. You will stay current on products, articulate our purpose educationally and professionally, and enjoy serving others while making a positive impact.
Dutiesand Responsibilities Customer Service
- Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
- Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise; inform them about events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card.
- Build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
- Maintain store appearance.
- Cross‑sell products and know the store layout.
- Make suggestions to customers about latest trends and current promotions based on their needs.
- Upsell products.
- Learn product features; keep up with trends; use company tools and technology to provide product knowledge/specs.
- Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards (cash handling), including counting money and returning accurate amounts.
- Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Act as the keeper of merchandise, complete inventory processes, and ensure merchandise is checked in and ticketed properly.
- Ensure security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
- Provide direction on assignments, prioritize projects/tasks, and manage merchandise and inventory.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule and complete tasks with accuracy and completeness.
- Provide effective leadership, directing, training, and motivating associates; set a positive example.
- Coach and give feedback promptly and professionally.
- Assign work and training to sales associates and provide input to the Department Manager on associate performance.
- May open/close locations.
As needed by the organization.
Qualifications Product Knowledge- Moderate level of knowledge of products/merchandise.
- Provide training/documentation to sales associates on product features.
- 1–2 years of retail or relevant work experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication with customers, peers, and management, including telephone etiquette.
- Basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios; make change in American monetary units.
- Multi‑task while attending to customers and remain flexible to business needs.
- Work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision.
- Defuse escalated exchanges and create win‑win situations.
This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Lifting of at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work typically performed indoors, but may also be assigned outdoors depending on location.

General Experience1 year of responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind, demonstrating the ability to perform satisfactorily.
Specialized Experience1 year progressively responsible experience in retail sales performing the duties that constitute the principal work of this position.
Substitution of Education for ExperienceStudy completed at a college, university, or junior college above high‑school level may be substituted on the basis of one‑half academic year of study for 6 months of experience. At any level, specialized experience may substitute for required general experience. Candidates must have demonstrated the qualities of successful supervision in their work experience or training.
