Supervisory Sales Associate

Job Summary As a Supervisory Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company to both the associates and our customers. You will highlight our brand and image while contributing to building our reputation as a company that values its customers and their opinions. You will be directly responsible for assisting customers and helping them recognize the need for our products and services.

You will also lead the associates, ensuring the work environment is positive and productive. Through a continuous learning environment, you will stay current on products and be able to articulate our purpose in a professional and educational manner. • Proactively engage and make a connection with customers.
• Ask questions and listen to customers’ needs.
• Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and the STAR card.
• Provide premier customer service.
• Cooperate and build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships; take accountability for your actions and outcomes.

• Maintain store appearance.

• Cross‑sell products and know the store layout.
• Make suggestions to customers on latest trends and current promotions based on individual needs.
• Upsell products.
• Learn product features and keep up with the latest trends; leverage company tools and technology to provide confident product knowledge/specs.
• Use a Point‑of‑Sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, debit cards (cash handling), including counting money and returning accurate amounts to customers.
• Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.

• Manage merchandise, completing all inventory processes and ensuring accurate ticketing. May participate in periodic inventories.
• Be responsible for the security of cash, fixed assets, and merchandise inventory.
• Provide direction on assignments, including prioritizing projects/tasks, managing merchandise and inventory.

• Adhere to the assigned work schedule and complete work assignments accurately and completely.

• Provide effective leadership, demonstrate the ability to direct, train, and motivate associates; set a positive example.
• Provide coaching and feedback timely and professionally.
• Give direction, work assignments, and training to sales associates; provide input to the Department Manager on associate performance.

• May open/close locations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Moderate level of knowledge of products/merchandise. Provide training/documentation to sales associates on product features.

1–2 years of retail or relevant experience required; 1 year of lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management, and use proper etiquette on the telephone.

Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Use a calculator and calculate percentages and ratios. Make change in American monetary units.

Ability to multitask while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business. Work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision.

Ability to defuse escalated exchanges and create win/win situations.

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
