It is a treasured asset for Memphis, offering inclusive and free access to all.
Position SummaryThe Sales Associate is responsible for working with Park guests, selling various goods and merchandise in the Lake's Edge Gift Shop or Pine Lake Outpost at Shelby Farms Park, as well as assisting with other Park activities—all while maintaining an atmosphere of warm, friendly customer service. This position reports directly to the Visitor Services Supervisor, with assistance of the Sales Lead, to meet overall guest experience, revenue, and fundraising goals for Shelby Farms Park.
Duties& Areas Of Responsibility
- Deliver the Park's standard and reputation of above and beyond customer service.
- Accurately complete customer purchases and process all payment tenders via POS.
- Ensure the gift shop area achieves the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Follow opening and closing shift procedures.
- Establish personalized yet professional rapport with customers.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Park amenities, programs, mission, and operational times for various locations to best assist guests.
- Assist with merchandise sales for fundraising events throughout the year, including the Starry Nights holiday light show.
- Complete any other duties assigned by the Sales Lead, Visitor Services Supervisor, and/or Director of Sales + Events.
Requirements & Desired Qualifications
- Flexible schedule: must be available to work weekends and some holidays/school breaks
- Excellent communication skills and desire to provide a friendly and enjoyable customer experience while working well with your team
- Experience with cash handling
- Demonstrates values of collaboration, accountability, authenticity, trust, and learning
- Collaborates with people of different races, backgrounds, experiences, and educational levels
- Enthusiastic, dependable, trustworthy, self-motivated, and self-aware
- Ability to stand or walk constantly during shift
- Must have physical agility and the ability to handle objects carefully
- Ability to lift or move objects of 30–40 lbs
- Typical work week ranges from 8 to 20 hours
- Weekend shifts are typically 6–8 hours
- Must be available to work weekends and some holidays/school breaks
