Security Officer patrolling hospital and grounds to maintain a safe, secure environment for associates, patients, family members, and visitors.

Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital, parking, and/or assigned areas to ensure safety and security.
  • Assume mobile responsibilities, such as operating a van or shuttle.
  • Provide customer service and perform general duties.
  • Use proper communication skills for radio and telephone.
  • Prepare daily activity reports, incident reports, offense reports, fire reports, and other documentation.
  • Maintain property of patients, lost and found items, and documentation on money escorts.
  • Maintain appearance and equipment.
Education and Training
  • Required – High School Diploma or Equivalent
Work Experience
  • Preferred – Security or law enforcement experience 1–3 years
Licenses and Certifications
  • Required – Class D Driver’s License (Tennessee – Tennessee Motor Vehicle)
  • Required – Security Guard – Unarmed (Tennessee – Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods and operations commensurate with education/experience.
  • Ability to carry out assigned duties with integrity and honesty.
  • Skill in applying appropriate behavior when greeting and assisting members of the public.
  • Ability to understand and prepare written materials at a moderate level, such as incident reports, as would be acquired through completion of high school.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with associates and visitors.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and maintain control of workflow.
  • Ability to maintain a working relationship with co‑workers.
Supervision Provided by This Position
  • No supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
Physical Demands
  • May include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motions.
  • Must have good balance and coordination.
  • Heavy work may involve exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently.
  • Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and extensive reading.
  • May require using physical force to resolve emergency situations.
  • Must successfully complete departmental training that includes physical, hands‑on training and competencies.
