POSITION OVERVIEWLeMoyne-Owen College is seeking dependable, professional, and customer-service-oriented Event Campus Safety Officers to provide security and safety support during athletic events and other college-sponsored activities.
Event Campus Safety Officers will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment for students, faculty, staff, athletes, visitors, and guests. Staff may be scheduled for sporting events, campus events, special programs, ceremonies, and other activities as needed.
This is an event-based position , with hours varying according to the College's event schedule and operational needs.
EVENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide security and safety coverage for athletic events, including basketball, volleyball, and other sporting activities
- Provide security for concerts, ceremonies, conferences, student activities, and other special events
- Monitor entrances, exits, event areas, and designated campus locations
- Assist with crowd control and maintain orderly movement of guests and attendees
- Enforce College event policies and procedures in a professional and courteous manner
- Respond appropriately to disturbances, conflicts, emergencies, and safety concerns
- Monitor for unauthorized access, suspicious activity, property damage, or other security concerns
- Assist with emergency evacuations and other emergency response procedures
- Contact Campus Safety, law enforcement, fire/EMS, or other emergency personnel when appropriate
- Assist with securing event facilities before, during, and after events
- Conduct routine visual inspections of assigned area
- Provide directions and general assistance to students, visitors, and guests
- Prepare or provide incident information and reports as required
- Maintain a professional presence and positive working relationship with College personnel, event staff, students, and visitors
- Perform other security-related duties as assigned
- High school diploma/GED
- Previous security, public safety, military, law enforcement, customer service, or event-management experience
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and variable event schedules
- Prior experience working security at sporting events or large gatherings
- Security or public safety training
- Experience working in a college/university or similar environment
- Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with diverse groups
- Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment during stressful situations
- Ability to follow College policies, security procedures, and supervisory instructions
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential
- Ability to cooperate and work well with team members
- Ability to move quickly when responding to an incident
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs and navigate event facilities.
- Ability to assist with crowd control and emergency procedures when necessary
Work is normally performed in a typical indoor and outdoor setting with occasional extensive walking, and or standing. The employee, frequently, is required to walk, stand, reach and lift (50) pounds. The campus safety and compliance officer must present a professional appearance, wearing a uniform approved by Campus Safety Director.
